Briana holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from California State University, Long Beach, and a Master of Science in Developmental Psychopathology from the University of Reading in England—one of the top-ranked universities worldwide. Her graduate studies included trauma research and laid the foundation for her lifelong dedication to mental health.
She is a Licensed Professional Counselor, a Licensed Addiction Counselor in Colorado, and a Certified Psychiatric Rehabilitation Practitioner through the US Psychiatric Rehabilitation Association. Briana also holds a postgraduate certificate in Psychosocial Rehabilitation from Boston University.
Her career began in inpatient psychiatric hospitals in Southern California, where she worked as both a psychiatric technician and case manager. These formative years provided hands-on experience with chronic mental illness and taught her the value of interdisciplinary teamwork.
Briana’s passion for Psychosocial Rehabilitation deepened at the Life Adjustment Team in Marina del Rey, one of the first private PSR programs in the country. Their model—7 Domains, 7 Principles, and 7 Needs—continues to influence her approach to client care.
Briana learned that while hospitalization and other higher levels of care serve an important role in stabilization, people need more individualized support to achieve true psychosocial wellness.
After relocating to Colorado, Briana worked in private practice and was later recruited to Elements Behavioral Health, where she served as National Director of Clinical Outreach. There, she supported families and clients in finding appropriate residential treatment, collaborating with nationally respected programs such as Promises Malibu and The Ranch. She later joined a premier trauma-integrated Intensive Outpatient Program as Director of Marketing and Admissions, where she also contributed to clinical programming and company growth.
Outside of her clinical and leadership roles, Briana served as a founding volunteer for 5280 High School, Denver’s first recovery high school for teens struggling with substance use and mental health challenges—helping bring this innovative program to life within the public school system.
Ultimately, Briana returned to the work that feels most meaningful to her—psychosocial rehabilitation—and founded Sanare to bring this essential, individualized care to the Colorado community.
A California girl at heart, Briana loves being a dog mom, dancing at live music shows, swimming anywhere the water is warm, and exploring new cultures. She’s traveled to over 30 countries and is always planning her next adventure.
