Eric Zhao, BS, BA
Social Work Intern
Eric Zhao earned a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy from the University of Massachusetts Amherst, where he also minored in Biology and was recognized on the Dean’s List throughout his academic career. He is currently pursuing a Master of Social Work at the University of Denver. Eric’s background in both psychology and philosophy brings a strong clinical understanding to client care and a thoughtful approach to ethics within individual and family systems.
Eric’s professional experience spans care coordination for individuals with disabilities, clinical education, and community-based case management. He has worked as a Case Manager, supporting family reunification through skill-building, parenting education, and access to community resources. During his time with University Disability Services, Eric facilitated intake and accommodation processes for students with diverse needs and connected them with long-term supports to promote accessibility and wellbeing.
Eric believes the best form of healing is unique to each individual client.
In addition to his clinical and case management work, Eric has an extensive coaching background, having served as an coach and mentor for over 100 clients. Through this experience, he developed a deep appreciation for individualized motivation, communication, and resilience—skills that continue to inform his work with clients at Sanare today.
He is committed to creating a therapeutic environment where clients feel safe, supported, and empowered to explore their experiences. His approach integrates Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Motivational Interviewing (MI).
Outside of his work, Eric is an avid writer who finds joy in creative expression, spending time outdoors, and bouldering.
